McCain dazzled the crowd by scoring 30 points and achieving a remarkable 6-for-11 in three-point shots. His performance was so energizing that upon scoring his 30th point, he boldly declared himself “Rookie of the Year.”<\/p>\n

McCain’s exceptional play has not only boosted the Sixers but has also propelled him to the forefront of the NBA’s rookie rankings.<\/p>\n

Given McCain’s stellar performance, his bold proclamation sparked curiosity and anticipation for his postgame interview, where he appeared alongside teammate Tyrese Maxey.<\/p>\n

Maxey was unaware of McCain’s claim until the press conference, and his reaction was unforgettable:<\/p>\n

Caught up in the heat of the game, McCain admitted to the early declaration of being the top rookie.<\/p>\n

“I guess I said that,” McCain acknowledged during the interview.<\/p>\n

“You guess?” Maxey responded, prompting a laugh.<\/p>\n

“Yeah, I did say that. It was pretty clear,” McCain confirmed, standing by his statement after a gentle nudge from his teammate.<\/p>\n

Maxey, surprised at first, showed his support for the rookie’s confidence. He also praised McCain’s rapid development and his versatile skills that benefit the team.<\/p>\n

“I was ecstatic that we found someone who can alleviate some of my responsibilities and allow me not to always handle the ball,” Maxey shared postgame with Derek Bodner of PHLY Sports<\/em>. “Having another playmaker who can shoot and play both on and off the ball makes everything much easier.”<\/p>\n

McCain is currently leading all rookies with an average of 16.5 points per game and a 42.7% success rate from the three-point line.<\/p>\n
