Meanwhile, another rookie, Bronny James, is attracting significant attention this season, much more than the average second-round pick, largely due to his famous father and teammate, LeBron James. A pivotal question that surrounds Bronny’s first NBA season is whether he can establish his own legacy in the league.
Esteemed basketball trainer Chris Brickley, who has coached NBA stars like Kevin Durant of the Suns, veteran player Carmelo Anthony, and Paige Bueckers, a guard from Connecticut, sees great potential in 20-year-old Bronny.
“He’s eager to get better,” remarked Chris Brickley about James in an interview with Justin Robertson from Bleacher Report. “His skills are a lot more refined than people realize, from his handling and shooting abilities to his athleticism and basketball IQ. James, who had an average of 4.8 points per game during his sole college season at USC, has shown modest numbers in the preseason games.
His performance peaked on Thursday night against Phoenix, where he scored four points from 2-of-4 field shooting in 17 minutes of play. However, in his four previous games, James only managed four points from 2-of-16 shooting, along with five turnovers.
