What’s new on Netflix in August? As usual, the streaming platform is loaded with fresh content. A notable highlight is the release of Season 2 of Wednesday, which quickly climbed to the top of the most-watched English-speaking series of all time in 2022. The first part of the new season sees the eldest Addams family daughter returning to Nevermore Academy to solve new supernatural mysteries. The first four episodes drop on August 6, 2025, with more episodes scheduled for September 3.

Another major highlight in series this month is Long Story Short, a new animated comedy from Raphael Bob-Waksberg, known for the acclaimed BoJack Horseman. This series chronicles the lives of siblings from childhood to adulthood, launching on August 22. Also, Season 2 of the romantic series My Life with the Walter Boys releases at the end of the month, on August 28, 2025.

On the movie front, Netflix subscribers can start the month with My Oxford Year. Starring Sofia Carson (Carry-On, Tomorrow is Another Day) and Corey Mylchreest (Queen Charlotte), this romance explores the relationship between an American exchange student at the prestigious University of Oxford and her English literature professor. The film is available starting August 1.

Lastly, the most recent film directed by Chris Columbus (Home Alone, Harry Potter 1 and 2) premieres at the end of August. The Thursday Murder Club is based on the best-selling novel by Richard Osman. It follows four retirees (played by Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie) who spend their free time solving unsolved murders.
