Steve Kerr has a longstanding attachment to Pacific Palisades, a community recently ravaged by wildfires. He revealed on Thursday that his childhood residence was among the structures destroyed.

“It’s been difficult. Fortunately, my family is safe, and my mother is well-cared for, but her house has been lost. I’ve been in constant communication with my siblings, and we’ve all been supporting our mom through this. She’s safe, which is the most important thing,” Kerr shared.

He added, “That town is where I grew up, and it’s heartbreaking to see that so many of my friends there have lost their homes too. Our old high school has been destroyed, and the entire town seems to have been erased. It feels both surreal and heartbreaking.”

Kerr mentioned that his parents acquired the house back in 1969, and it was where he was raised. He had just visited the home two weeks prior for a meal with his mother.

Before his professional and coaching career, the Golden State Warriors head coach played basketball at Palisades High School, now known as Palisades Charter High School, which also sustained significant damage in the recent wildfires.

Fortunately, Kerr’s family and friends are safe, although they have faced immense losses.
