The San Antonio Spurs have secured a significant player from their emerging roster.
According to a report by Shams Charania of ESPN on Monday afternoon, Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox has signed a four-year, $229 million contract extension with the team.
Previously set to become a free agent after the 2026 season, the 27-year-old Fox is now contracted through the 2030 season. He joined the Spurs from the Sacramento Kings as part of a three-team trade in February.
During the 2025 season, Fox played 62 games—45 with the Kings and 17 with the Spurs—averaging 23.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game. His scoring average dipped to 19.7 points per game after his move to San Antonio.
Over his eight-season career, which began after being drafted fifth overall by the Kings from Kentucky, Fox has consistently performed well. He earned accolades such as an All-Star selection and the NBA’s Clutch Player of the Year during Sacramento’s notable 2023 season. In 2024, he led the NBA with an average of two steals per game.
With Victor Wembanyama, a strong center, back in good health, the Spurs aim to break their six-year streak of losing seasons in 2026.
