Aaron Gordon Honors His Late Brother with Jersey Number Change

Aaron Gordon, the Denver Nuggets forward, has decided to make a heartfelt tribute to his older brother, Drew Gordon, who tragically passed away in a car accident on May 30 in Oregon at the age of 33. To honor his brother, Aaron will switch his jersey number from 50 to 32.

Drew Gordon, who was undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft, played collegiate basketball at UCLA and later at New Mexico. During his time with the New Mexico Lobos, he sported the number 32 jersey. Though he spent the majority of his professional career playing basketball overseas, he did have a stint in the NBA, playing nine games for the Philadelphia 76ers in 2014. Additionally, he played in the NBA G League, representing the Delaware 87ers in the 2014-15 season and the Long Island Nets in the 2018-19 season.

At New Mexico, Drew was a prominent player and achieved first-team All-Mountain West Conference honors in 2012 as a senior. That year, he averaged 13.7 points and 11.1 rebounds per game, and was also named MVP of the Mountain West Conference tournament.

While playing abroad, Drew found considerable success. He won the 2014 Italian Cup with Dinamo Sassari, was named a French League All-Star in 2016 while playing for Champagne Chalons-Reims, and was a Russian League All-Star in 2018 with Zenit. He retired from professional basketball in July 2023.

Since being traded from the Orlando Magic to the Denver Nuggets during the 2020-21 season, Aaron Gordon has worn number 50. Prior to that, during his tenure with the Magic, his jersey number was 00.
