In the ongoing discourse about sports crossovers, NFL superstar Tom Brady made an unexpected pick for his quarterback among the basketball talents of Team USA.

Brady was seen this summer in Paris supporting Team USA in various Olympic events, and networking with multiple NBA legends during the tournament’s group stage. In a video diary from the Paris Games that he uploaded on Wednesday, the ex-New England Patriots quarterback was asked to choose his ideal football team from the men’s and women’s basketball teams of Team USA.

The renowned player, now 47-years-old, chose Boston’s Jayson Tatum as his quarterback—an interesting choice, possibly influenced by a bit of bias.

“Jayson Tatum would be my quarterback,” Brady stated. “For the running back position, that’s a difficult one, maybe Ant [Edwards] would fill that role. As for my receivers, I need two types—a possession guy and a down-the-field threat guy. Perhaps LeBron could be moved to the receiver position and Anthony [Davis] could be my tight end, alongside Joel [Embiid].”

Brady continued, “I think LeBron would be better utilized as a receiver given his downfield speed. So, with Tatum as my quarterback and Ant as my running back, I just need one more receiver… I’d go with DBook. That would make a great team.”

Tatum was notably at the center of a major controversy within Team USA basketball this summer when he was sidelined for two games during the team’s successful Olympic gold medal campaign. Despite being an All-Star forward, he was repeatedly excluded from the Team USA line-up, averaging 5.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game with a field goal percentage of 38.1% in the tournament, playing fewer minutes than his Celtics teammates Jrue Holiday and Derrick White.

However, in Brady’s perspective, Tatum seems to be the standout player and a certified QB1, drawing a lot of attention in The Town.
