The Atlanta Hawks were set to play the Houston Rockets at the State Farm Arena this Saturday. Unfortunately, the match was delayed due to adverse weather conditions in the vicinity of Atlanta.
A severe winter storm hit the city on Friday night, creating perilous travel conditions. Consequently, the NBA quickly decided to postpone the game. The league emphasized that the decision was made to ensure the safety of players, fans, and staff amid the severe weather and dangerous icy roads. The storm also resulted in power outages for over 111,000 households in the greater Atlanta area on Friday evening.
An announcement regarding the new date for the game will be made in due course.
This postponement of the Hawks-Rockets game was not an isolated incident, as three NBA games scheduled for Saturday were affected. Both the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs, and the match featuring the Los Angeles Clippers against the Charlotte Hornets were postponed as well due to wildfires in the Los Angeles area.
