Fans of political thrillers should check out Zero Day, featuring Robert De Niro, Angela Bassett, and Jesse Plemons. This six-hour series revolves around a former U.S. president who steps back into the limelight when a global cyber-attack wreaks havoc and causes numerous deaths across the country. He is then tasked with leading an investigative commission to track down the perpetrators. The miniseries, which launched last Thursday on Netflix, was one of the month’s highlights due to its star-studded cast.
If dystopian thrillers like Black Mirror are more your style, give the miniseries Cassandra a watch. In six episodes, this sci-fi series sees an AI turn against its creators, ensuring a suspenseful experience. If you prefer Nordic crime series, Murders at Are is right up your alley with its icy settings, grim murders, and troubled cops. Or perhaps you’d like to see how Cobra Kai wraps up, or catch the new season of Under the Magnolias.
For those who love romance, the American movie La Dolce Villa is perfect, while fans of French comedies can check out Honeymoon with My Mother, featuring Michèle Laroque. Alternatively, explore the Ghibli animated film The Boy and the Heron, revisit the tragedy of Maximus in Gladiator, dive into the adventure video game Uncharted, or revisit the Despicable Me series.

This week features several new exciting releases. Actor Olivier Marchal is releasing his latest film as a director this Friday, February 28. In Bastion 36, a commander from the prestigious BRI played by Victor Belmondo is transferred to the Anti-Crime Brigade. Thirteen months later, two members of his former team are killed within 24 hours, and a third goes missing. He decides to conduct his own investigation. If you’re more into comedies, consider watching Play? This film by Anthony Marciano, featuring Max Boublil and Alice Isaaz, follows the adolescence and adult life of Max, a young man who films his entire life. Originally released in cinemas in 2020, it will be available on Netflix this Wednesday, January 26, 2025.
As for series, there’s plenty to look forward to this week. The documentary Full Swing, focused on the PGA Tour professional golf circuit, is launching its third season on Tuesday, February 25. Two days later, on Thursday, February 27, Kate Hudson stars in the new American comedy series The Leader, created by Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen (who worked on The Mindy Project): the actress plays the owner of the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team, who has to manage her hectic professional life and her role as a woman and mother.
Finally, the month will wrap up with the release of the British series Toxic Town, created by Jack Thorne (His Dark Materials, The Fades): the four episodes tell the true story of the Corby poisonings, one of the UK’s biggest environmental scandals. The series, featuring Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education), Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who), and Robert Carlyle (Once Upon a Time), debuts on February 27 on Netflix.
