Fear Street: Prom Queen is a young adult horror film adapted from R.L. Stine’s book series Fear Street. Does the name R.L. Stine ring a bell? It should, as he’s also the creator of the beloved Goosebumps series. In Fear Street, Stine targets an older audience, focusing on the cursed residents of a small street in an Ohio town.
This particular movie, Fear Street: Prom Queen, is based on the fifteenth book in the series, which was originally published in 1990. On the small screen, it marks the fourth Fear Street book adapted by Netflix. Between July 2 and July 16, 2021, Netflix released the first three parts of the television adaptation: Fear Street Part 1: 1994, Fear Street Part 2: 1978, and Fear Street Part 3: 1666. For this fourth installment, director Leigh Janiak has passed the torch to Matt Palmer (known for Sea Fog and Calibre). Fear Street: Prom Queen has been available for streaming on Netflix since May 23, 2025.
