NBA Best Bets: Top Predictions & Prop Bets for Luka Doncic, Karl-Anthony Towns Today!

This Sunday could mark the last instance of a four-game lineup in the NBA playoffs, with the Oklahoma City Thunder having secured their spot in the subsequent round while several other teams are poised to potentially lead their series 3-1 after Sunday’s games.

Teams like the New York Knicks (leading 2-1 against the Detroit Pistons), Boston Celtics (leading 2-1 against the Orlando Magic), Minnesota Timberwolves (leading 2-1 against the Los Angeles Lakers), and Indiana Pacers (leading 2-1 against the Milwaukee Bucks) are all positioned advantageously for their critical fourth games, starting with the Knicks facing the Pistons at 1 p.m. EST.

The Knicks recently secured a victory on the road and have been involved in several tight matches with the promising Detroit squad. On the other hand, the Celtics, Lakers, and Pacers, all of whom are higher-seeded, experienced setbacks in their third games on the road this past Friday night.

Which teams are expected to recover and excel this Sunday?

Today, I’m focusing on just three player propositions for the top bets, but be sure to follow along with SI Betting for comprehensive game previews and prop bets for all of Sunday’s games.

Top NBA Bets for Today

Odds provided by DraftKings Sportsbook.

  • Bobby Portis OVER 13.5 Points (-120) – 0.5 unit
  • Luka Doncic OVER 7.5 Assists (+110) – 0.5 unit
  • Karl-Anthony Towns OVER 22.5 Points (-105) – 0.5 unit

Bobby Portis OVER 13.5 Points (-120) – 0.5 unit

Bobby Portis of the Milwaukee Bucks delivered a strong performance in Game 2 against Indiana with 28 points, but then scored 10 points over 32 minutes in Game 3.

Despite coming off the bench, Portis has been significant for the Bucks, attempting a substantial number of shots in recent games. Even though he didn’t meet this performance target in Game 3, he remains a promising choice if his role remains consistent. Throughout the regular season, he averaged 13.9 points per game with a shooting accuracy of 46.6% from the field and 36.5% from three-point range.

Following a 25-game suspension, Portis concluded the regular season by scoring 14 or more points in his last three games. I’m backing him for a strong performance in Game 4.

Luka Doncic OVER 7.5 Assists (+110) – 0.5 unit

After a mere one assist in Game 1 against the Timberwolves, Luka Doncic has bounced back with nine and eight assists in the subsequent games.

The star guard is logging significant minutes and averaging 11.0 potential assists per game. During the regular season, he averaged 7.5 assists per game with the Lakers and his involvement has only increased in the playoffs. With the Lakers facing a crucial game, I anticipate Doncic will excel in Game 4.

Despite the strong Minnesota defense, he has surpassed this assist total in two consecutive games, making Game 1 appear as an outlier. At +110, this prop offers great value for Sunday.

Karl-Anthony Towns OVER 22.5 Points (-105) – 0.5 unit

Karl-Anthony Towns of the Knicks had a subdued second half in Game 2, but the team made a deliberate effort to integrate him more in Game 3.

In that game, Towns attempted 18 shots, including a series-high eight three-pointers, leading to a 31-point performance. It was the second time in this series that he scored 23 or more points.

So far, KAT has attempted 14, 11, and 18 shots in the three games, demonstrating high efficiency with a shooting percentage of 58.1%. I expect the Knicks to continue focusing on him offensively, especially if Mitchell Robinson (illness, questionable) is unavailable on Sunday.

Towns averaged 24.4 points per game during the regular season and has been a difficult matchup for the Pistons, who have tried using both big man Jalen Duren and wing Tobias Harris to guard him in this series.
