Secrets we keep is a Danish miniseries developed by Ingeborg Topsøe (Wildland, The Charmer). This chilling thriller explores the dynamics of power within the Nordic elite and the deceits that can poison an outwardly functional and privileged family. As the creator explains, “Setting a crime plot in such an environment is intriguing: what do we reveal about ourselves when the family unit becomes a stage for silent tensions?”
Since the beginning of the year, Netflix has been spotlighting Scandinavian thrillers, as just last month we were introduced to the superb Glass Dome, created by Swedish crime doyenne, Camilla Läckberg. With its dark filters, measured dialogue, and tight plotlines, fans will be thrilled to explore Secrets we keep, available for streaming on Netflix since May 15, 2025.

Cecilie lives with her family in an affluent neighborhood in Copenhagen. One day, Ruby, her neighbors’ au pair, vanishes after attempting to call Cecilie for help. The police investigate, but the case isn’t a priority. When Angel, Cecilie’s own au pair, begs her to search for her friend and shares rumors circulating among the domestic workers in the area, the family matriarch agrees. As the likelihood of a crime grows, Cecilie increasingly finds herself immersed in a reality that challenges her entire life.
