The expulsion of Luka Doncic in the fourth quarter significantly impacted the Los Angeles Lakers’ performance on Tuesday night. At the time he received his second technical foul, the game was closely contested with only a one-point difference, but it concluded with a 136–120 defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Postgame, Doncic clarified the circumstances surrounding his abrupt ejection, confirming that his remarks were directed at a Thunder fan in the stands rather than the officials. He expressed confusion over the referee J.T. Orr’s interpretation of the interaction.

“I have never been the cause of a fan getting ejected. I believe in letting them speak, and I respond as I always do. It wasn’t about the referee, so it’s puzzling to me,” Doncic stated.

Orr mistakenly thought Doncic’s comments were directed at him, which led to the player’s second technical foul and subsequent ejection. In reality, Doncic was exchanging words with Oklahoma City fan Jeremy Page, who later confirmed to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin that such interactions had occurred between them before.

Doncic is known for not backing down from verbal exchanges with fans who heckle him during games. What seemed like another routine interaction escalated quickly, resulting in his ejection from the game by Orr.
