Bronny James celebrated a memorable milestone by scoring his inaugural NBA points during the Wednesday night matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Cleveland Cavaliers, marking a perfect start to his professional career.
Born in Cleveland in 2004 while his father, LeBron James, played for the Cavaliers, Bronny now shares the court with his father as teammates. This game was poignant for both, especially since Bronny’s first points took place in the city where LeBron’s own legendary career began.
LeBron expressed his joy about the event, stating, “To witness him score his first NBA basket in this arena, close to where he was raised, is just an incredible moment,” according to Lakers Nation. “It’s a remarkable moment for him and for our family.”
The crowd in Cleveland also showed their support, cheering loudly for the 20-year-old as he made the shot. They even stood to applaud when he entered the game during the fourth quarter. Arguably, Cleveland was the next best place for him to earn his first NBA points after Los Angeles.
Bronny acknowledged the significance of these points, although he admitted he didn’t fully appreciate the moment as it was happening.
“Achieving this milestone felt like a dream come true,” he said. “It really hit me afterwards. During the game, I was focused and didn’t really celebrate the moment,” the rookie explained.
