LeBron James is currently sidelined from the Los Angeles Lakers roster due to a groin injury he incurred last Saturday.

He will be absent from the upcoming game against the Denver Nuggets on Friday night. Nevertheless, he plans to be in Sacramento that same evening to watch his son Bryce James compete in the California state championship for Division I basketball, as reported by NBA expert Chris Haynes.

The Lakers organization has expressed their support for James’ decision to attend his son’s pivotal game. Additionally, James has received medical clearance to undertake the journey.

Bryce, a senior at Sierra Canyon High School, will compete against Lincoln High School in the state championship game on Friday night. Sierra Canyon last made it to the state finals in 2020, a season that was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic and featured Bryce’s older brother Bronny as a freshman. Bryce has committed to play at Arizona next season.

The Lakers’ star was originally expected to be out of action for one to two weeks due to his injury, though no definitive return date has been established. Lakers coach JJ Redick mentioned to reporters on Friday that James is nearing a return to play, but refrained from providing specific details.
