Speaking on Thursday, ESPN’s Shams Charania commented on James’s enduring excellence at age 39 and speculated about the timeline for his retirement. During a segment on First Take, Charania shared his insights with analyst Stephen A. Smith.
“I believe next season might very well be his last in the NBA,” Charania suggested on First Take. “Perhaps Bryce James could influence him to play another year or two. However, with the All-Star game being in Los Angeles next season, it could create a fitting send-off.”

Despite battling against the inevitable effects of aging, LeBron continues to dominate on the court, averaging 24.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 9.4 assists in his 22nd NBA season. His efforts have helped position the Lakers sixth in the Western Conference with a 7-4 record.
With stats like these and his son Bryce, a high school senior, potentially two years away from joining the NBA, it seems LeBron’s departure could be further off. Yet, it might be closer than it appears, necessitating fans to prepare for his eventual retirement.
