In collaboration with Barbie, James and his LeBron James Family Foundation have joined forces with Mattel for a fresh campaign that introduces a LeBron James doll. This doll marks the first in the upcoming “Kenbassador” series aimed at celebrating men “who inspire and contribute to a better world for all.”
“Growing up, I had the privilege of having role models who not only motivated me but also demonstrated the possibilities achievable through perseverance and commitment,” James commented. “Now, as an adult, I realize the importance of young individuals having positive figures to look up to. That’s why it’s such a privilege to collaborate with Barbie to launch the LeBron James ‘Kenbassadors’ doll. This initiative provides a platform to acknowledge the influential presence of role models who build confidence, inspire aspirations, and prove that great success is within reach.”
The LeBron James Barbie doll not only bears a striking resemblance to him but is also an inch taller than the typical Ken doll. James played an active role in designing the doll, outfitting it in a varsity jacket labeled with “LJ” on the front, an Ohio patch, and a crown patch on one sleeve, alongside the number 23 on the other sleeve, and his name “LeBron” prominently displayed on the back with the slogan “Just a kid from Akron.” The shirt underneath reads “We Are Family,” as a nod to the LeBron James Family Foundation.
Additionally, the doll features some of James’s signature endorsements, including Nike Dunk Hi Retro sneakers, Beats headphones, and a watch branded with his name on one wrist along with an “I Promise” wristband in honor of his I Promise School on the other wrist. The doll also sports sunglasses and a fanny pack.
For the initial 5,000 dolls sold at Target, either in-store or online from April 14 to 19, Mattel will donate a copy of James’s book I Am More Than to Save the Children, a cause dear to James’s heart.
Fans can purchase the LeBron James doll starting Monday, April 14, at a price of $75, available at select Target stores or online through Target, Amazon, Walmart, and Mattel Creations.
