Anthony’s candidacy for the 2025 Hall of Fame class was announced on Friday. He is among other notable figures such as Sue Bird, Dwight Howard, Sylvia Fowles, as well as basketball contributor Micky Arison, and coaches Billy Donovan and Jerry Welsh.
Over his 19-year NBA career, Anthony made 10 All-Star appearances and maintained impressive averages of 22.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. He played a pivotal role in his freshman year at Syracuse University, leading the team to its first NCAA Championship. Anthony was then selected as the third pick in the 2003 NBA draft, shortly after LeBron James was taken by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Anthony, who ranks tenth in all-time points scored (28,289), spent the bulk of his career with the Denver Nuggets and the New York Knicks, and later had shorter spells with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and Los Angeles Lakers.
James and Anthony were teammates in Los Angeles during the 2021 season.
