Luka Doncic’s Ejection During Lakers-Thunder Game

Luka Doncic, the celebrated guard of the Los Angeles Lakers, was ejected from the game against the Oklahoma City Thunder this past Tuesday. The incident occurred in the middle of the fourth quarter after Doncic received his second technical foul of the night.

The ejection followed a moment where Doncic, after successfully making a challenging shot, turned and spoke to a spectator sitting in the front row. The referee, mistaking Doncic’s comments as being directed towards him, made the decision to eject Doncic immediately from the match.

After the game, Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt discussed the referee J.T. Orr’s decision to issue two technical fouls to Doncic. The first technical foul was given in the third quarter when Doncic protested on behalf of Vanderbilt, insisting that Vanderbilt had been fouled and deserved a call. Vanderbilt expressed that Orr’s reactions towards Doncic seemed excessively personal and influenced the decision to eject him.

“Luka was simply pointing out that I had been fouled, I was hit in the head,” Vanderbilt explained. “He was just trying to tell the ref what happened. But the ref responded with something along the lines of, ‘I’ll talk to anyone but you, Luka.’ It definitely felt personal then.”

The game concluded with the Lakers losing to the Thunder with a score of 136-120.
