The entire NBA community is feeling the impact of Kyrie Irving’s recent ACL injury, with many players expressing their admiration and support for him. This sentiment was especially poignant in Kevin Durant’s reaction after the Phoenix Suns clinched a 119-117 victory against the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night.

“I feel for my boy,” remarked Durant about Irving, who was his teammate back in Brooklyn. “He’s deeply passionate about basketball, cherishes his routine, and loves playing alongside his teammates. He’s an incredible teammate, truly the best.”

Durant had to stop momentarily, visibly moved as he spoke about Irving’s misfortune.

“Man. His love for the game is so profound, it just pains me to see him hurt like this. But knowing him, his resilience and mental strength, he’ll come back even stronger than before the injury. My thoughts and prayers are with him for a quick recovery.”

Durant and Irving first joined forces in Brooklyn in 2019, where they shared the court until their respective trades sent Irving to the Mavericks and Durant to the Suns just before the 2023 trade deadline.

It’s clear their bond remains unbroken despite the changes.
