Following his trade from the Houston Rockets to the Phoenix Suns as a part of the high-profile Kevin Durant trade, a lot of speculation arose about Jalen Green’s fit with the team.

The primary concern was how Green, known for his ball-handling, would mesh with Suns’ star Devin Booker, who also demands considerable ball possession. Addressing these concerns, Green confidently spoke about their potential synergy.

“Both of us are skilled at scoring and drawing the defense’s attention,” Green explained in Las Vegas at the NBA Summer League event, as reported by Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic. “It’s about making the defense choose between us, ensuring one of us can take advantage of the scoring opportunity each night.

“Together, we are set to become an extremely potent scoring pair,” he added.

Green, who was the second overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft, has maintained an impressive average of 20.1 points per game over his four seasons with Houston. Last season, he had a three-point shooting average of 35.4% on more than eight attempts per game and participated in all 82 games for the last two seasons.

On the other hand, Booker just secured a significant two-year, $145 million extension to stay with the Suns until the 2030 season. In the previous season, he averaged 25.6 points and 7.1 assists per game.

Despite any initial doubts about the formation of this new high-caliber scoring duo in Phoenix, Green himself appears to be quite optimistic about their prospects together.
