Ja Morant’s Finger Guns Gesture at Warriors Bench Sparks Controversy!

On Tuesday evening, the Memphis Grizzlies faced their fourth consecutive defeat, losing to the Golden State Warriors with a score of 134-125 at FedExForum. This marks a challenging start for interim head coach Tuomas Iisalo, as Memphis has now dropped all three of their home games under his leadership.

Stephen Curry delivered an outstanding performance, sinking 12 three-pointers and amassing 52 points, along with 10 rebounds, eight assists, and five steals. Meanwhile, Ja Morant, playing for Memphis, managed to score 36 points despite the team’s loss.

In a noticeable moment, Morant seemed to make a finger gun gesture towards the Warriors towards the end of the game, mirroring a similar action by Buddy Hield from the Warriors’ bench as Jimmy Butler was taking late free throws.

Both Hield and Morant were penalized with double-technical fouls for their actions.

The timing of Morant’s gesture was particularly puzzling. It occurred just after Butler successfully made two free throws, increasing the Warriors’ lead to seven points with slightly over 20 seconds left in the game.

Earlier in the season, Desmond Bane also made a similar finger gun gesture, which nearly escalated into a physical altercation. Given Morant’s previous issues involving firearms, it’s surprising that such gestures are still being used by the Grizzlies.

With these recent losses, the Grizzlies have now lost seven out of their last eight games, putting their position at risk. They could potentially drop from the No. 6 seed to having to compete in the play-in tournament.
