The Houston Rockets are continuing to shape their team dynamically.
Shortly after their bold move to acquire Kevin Durant, the Rockets have secured a significant extension with one of their promising young talents. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Rockets have finalized a five-year, $122 million extension that will bind the player and the team until 2031.
Charania highlighted that this extension is part of a series of strategic moves the Rockets have made this offseason.

Since being picked third overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, Smith has consistently performed well for the Rockets.
Despite an injury that curtailed his playtime in 2025, he has managed to average about 13 points and seven rebounds per game. With Durant’s guidance, Smith is expected to further develop his skills in the coming seasons.
