Bronny James’ early days in the NBA have not been particularly remarkable, yet Los Angeles Lakers’ coach JJ Redick believes that once Bronny conquers his fear of failure, his career is poised to soar.
“He needs to reach a point where failing is seen as okay. He seems really hesitant to face failure,” Redick explained to the media on Tuesday, according to a report by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “Given that he has been in the spotlight since he was eight, I understand the pressure he feels. Once he overcomes this, his potential is limitless.”

“Bronny is incredibly compliant with our coaching, fulfilling every task we’ve set before him,” Redick added. “It’s important to remember that player development is not only about physical skills but also about mental growth.”
So far this season, Bronny has averaged 18 minutes per game over seven games for the Lakers, with a modest average of 0.6 points and 0.3 assists. He has shown more promise playing for the G League’s South Bay Lakers, where he recently scored a personal best of 30 points in a game against the Valley Suns. At just 20 years old and at the beginning of his NBA journey, there’s a lot of anticipation around how he will compare to his father.
Fortunately, Redick is optimistic about Bronny reaching a pivotal moment of breakthrough soon.
