Kawhi Leonard of the Los Angeles Clippers is facing a setback as he will be sidelined for an undetermined amount of time at the beginning of the NBA season due to inflammation in his right knee, as reported by Shams Charania of ESPN.

Since withdrawing from Team USA prior to the Olympics this summer, Leonard has been in rehabilitation for his troublesome knee, which continues to be problematic and requires more intensive rehab.

This isn’t the first time Leonard has struggled with injuries. Last season, he appeared in 68 games but was absent for a considerable portion of the playoffs due to injuries. He participated in only 52 games in the 2022 season and sat out the entire 2021 season recovering from a torn ACL.

The 33-year-old player, who has been named to the All-NBA team six times, boasts career averages of 20.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game, shooting 49.9% from the field and 39.1% from beyond the arc.

The Clippers are scheduled to start their regular season on October 23 at home against the Phoenix Suns.
