On a bustling Sunday, the New York City marathon led to unexpected complications for the Detroit Pistons.

Due to the marathon, many of the major thoroughfares were closed, preventing the Pistons from driving from their hotel to the Barclays Center for their scheduled 3:30 p.m. ET game against the Brooklyn Nets. Their solution? Taking the subway.

Here’s footage of the entire team on the 3 train.

For those curious about how this situation arose: Detroit was scheduled to play against both the Knicks and the Nets over the weekend. It’s likely they were staying in midtown Manhattan, near Madison Square Garden, with a plan to drive across the Brooklyn Bridge to reach Barclays for the Nets game. However, the Brooklyn Bridge was also closed on marathon day, leaving the MTA as the only viable transport option.

Thus, the Pistons players ended up commuting just like countless other New Yorkers do every day.
