Their camaraderie dates back to their college days at Villanova, where they were part of the team that clinched the national championship in 2016. After Hart’s transition to the NBA, Brunson continued at Villanova and added another championship to his resume in 2018.
Now reunited in the NBA, they have taken their relationship public through various social platforms and their own podcast, the Roommates Show, where they share numerous personal jokes and experiences.
Their sense of humor was on full display during their appearance on NBC’s Late Show with Seth Meyers this past Thursday night, captivating both the live audience and viewers at home.
During the show, Meyers probed Hart on how he playfully mocks Brunson, a topic Hart was ready to delve into.
“His head size,” Hart quipped, as Brunson prepared for the jest. “It’s a classic one. It reminds me of the bobblehead,” Hart continued, nodding towards Meyers.
Meyers offered more background. “I had taken my son to the game on a day they were giving out Jalen Brunson bobbleheads,” he explained. “My son became a huge fan, especially after your 40-point game. He kept shouting ‘Bobblehead Brunson!’ every time you scored. Sorry for spilling that, Josh,” he added sheepishly.
Hart quickly responded.
“It’s funny because usually bobbleheads exaggerate the head size, but this time they got it just right. Hats off to the creators, they nailed it,” Hart declared, prompting laughter from Brunson and the audience.
Seth: “How do you tease Jalen?”
Josh: “His head size…Bobblehead Brunson”
…
Seth: “Took my son to Bobblehead Day…Every time Jalen scored he yelled ‘Bobblehead Brunson'”
…
Josh: “First time a bobblehead was made to scale!” pic.twitter.com/hWWlshldzm— New York Basketball (@NBA_NewYork) September 20, 2024
Their strong bond both on and off the court has made them beloved figures in New York. The next step in enhancing their legacy in New York sports would be to secure an NBA championship, a goal they are eagerly pursuing this season.
