Celebrating Christmas with NBA games has become a cherished tradition in basketball culture. This year, fans are treated to five exciting matchups on December 25th.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the lineup for the day includes notable teams, with the Los Angeles Lakers facing the Houston Rockets. Remarkably, this marks the 27th consecutive year that the Lakers have participated in the Christmas games.

While the Lakers have a long history of Christmas appearances, the New York Knicks hold the record for the most Christmas Day games in NBA history. They will be making their 58th appearance, going up against the Cleveland Cavaliers this year.

Other games set for Christmas Day include the 2025 NBA champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder, who will play against the San Antonio Spurs. Additionally, the Dallas Mavericks will take on the Golden State Warriors, and the Minnesota Timberwolves will meet the Denver Nuggets on the court.

Interestingly, the Boston Celtics, who secured the championship in 2024, will not be playing this Christmas. This ends their streak of Christmas Day games that started back in 2015.
