Detroit Pistons player Malik Beasley has been removed from his high-end apartment in the heart of Detroit following a court order issued on Wednesday, as per judicial records seen by news organizations including Axios and ESPN.

Beasley, aged 28, has been the focus of a federal probe since June due to suspected gambling activities during his time with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2024. Although no formal charges have been pressed to date, the investigation has cast a spotlight on his financial affairs. On July 1, Robert Snell from the Detroit News reported that Beasley had outstanding debts including amounts owed to a well-known barber, a dentist, a property owner, a financial institution, and a promotional agency.

According to a report by Joe Guillen from Axios on Friday, Beasley is behind on payments totaling more than $23,000 for his residence at The Stott, which includes unpaid rent and additional expenses. Guillen notes that the monthly rent for an apartment in the Art Deco building is estimated to be around $7,000.

Despite his off-court troubles, Beasley excelled in the 2025 basketball season, averaging 16.3 points per game and contributing significantly to the Pistons’ playoff run. He was a close runner-up in the Sixth Man of the Year award, coming second to Celtics guard Payton Pritchard.

“Clearly, he’s facing some challenging times currently,” said Steve Haney, Beasley’s attorney, though he is not representing him in this specific case, in a conversation with Guillen.
