ESPN’s Shams Charania has announced that Mikal Bridges, the talented forward for the New York Knicks, has agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $150 million. The contract also includes a player option for the 2029-30 season and a trade kicker, which means Bridges will receive a financial bonus if he is traded by the Knicks in the future.

Following his impressive performance in his debut season with the Knicks, where he averaged 17.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game, Bridges has been rewarded with this extension. He played in all 82 games of the season and played a pivotal role in propelling the Knicks to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000.

Bridges’ standout moment came during the postseason, particularly during Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. He made a crucial steal from Jaylen Brown of the Celtics in the closing seconds of overtime, securing a victory that fueled the Knicks’ comeback.

Before joining the Knicks, the 28-year-old forward spent over four seasons with the Phoenix Suns and a brief period with the Nets in 2023 before being traded to New York last summer. Following a solid first year with the Knicks, Bridges is set to be a key component of the team as they pursue their first NBA championship since the early 1970s.
