Gilbert Arenas, the former NBA player, was released on a $50,000 bond following his arrest related to a federal charge. The indictment accuses him of running illicit high-stakes poker games at his Encino, California residence.

The charges against Arenas include one count of conspiracy to operate an illegal gambling business, one count of operating an illegal gambling business, and one count of providing false statements to federal investigators, as per the announcement from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California.

Following his court appearance and subsequent release on Wednesday, Arenas was seen celebrating by sharing a video where he joyfully danced down the steps of the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.

In the caption of his video, Arenas claimed innocence, stating that he merely “rented the house” where the illegal gambling occurred and denied participating in the poker games.

“I’m Back on the Streets,” Arenas declared on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing, “This ain’t got shyt to do with me ‘just rented the house’ Wasnt apart.”

Arenas’s trial is set for September 23. If convicted, the former NBA star could face up to five years in federal prison for each of the three counts levied against him.

Now 43, Arenas was a three-time All-Star and concluded his 11-year NBA career with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2012.
