Since August 6, fans of Wednesday have been thrilled: they can use the summer holidays to reconnect with the eldest of the Addams family in new nightmarish adventures. While new actors join the cast, others have departed. This includes Percy Hynes White, who played Xavier in Season 1 and was accused of sexual assault at the end of 2023. Naomi J Ogawa (Yoko Tanaka) is also absent, while Jamie McShane (Sheriff Donovan Galpin) returns as a “guest” and will be less present.

Season 2 of Wednesday arrives on Netflix. The release is scheduled in two parts, with the dates already set: the first four episodes were released on August 6, 2025, at 9:01 AM. Viewers will need to wait until September 3 to watch the next four episodes.

Critics’ Reviews on Wednesday

Wednesday was highly anticipated, but Tim Burton managed to win over critics who praised the eight episodes available on the streaming platform. Allociné “loved […] this series charged with 10,000 volts, which constantly changes shape and genre.” Whether it’s fantasy, horror, teen drama, or thriller, there’s something for everyone. For Télérama, this “teen horror series attempts to bridge generational gaps, and does so quite successfully.” Télé Loisirs commends “a show that encapsulates all the codes of teen drama […] but still embodies themes dear to the filmmaker.”

Critics are also unanimous about the aesthetics of the series Wednesday, as well as the performances of the actors. Special mention goes to Jenna Ortega in the title role: “her commitment matches the character,” according to the TV news media, while Ouest-France notes that she “brilliantly carries the series on her shoulders.” For the regional daily, “Netflix scores a hit with this new version of Wednesday, which will please both young and old.” However, the series is not recommended for children under 13.

Synopsis – Wednesday Addams is now a student at Nevermore Academy. As she learns to harness her psychic powers, she must thwart a series of monstrous murders terrorizing the town and solve a mystery involving her parents 25 years ago.
