After a gray divorce, a woman rediscovers freedom in “Leanne,” a new series streaming on Netflix.

Following the success of her stand-up special I’m Every Woman, watched by millions on Netflix, Leanne Morgan is stepping up her game with Leanne, a self-titled series loosely based on her own life, premiering July 31, 2025, on Netflix with a debut season of 16 episodes. At 58, the Tennessee native plays a fictionalized version of herself in this family sitcom developed by Chuck Lorre, a giant in American comedy (co-creator of The Big Bang Theory).

To create a dynamic ensemble, Leanne Morgan has enlisted some strong talent. Kristen Johnston (Mom) plays her outspoken and vibrant sister, Ryan Stiles (Young Sheldon, Two and a Half Men) portrays her ex-husband, while Graham Rogers (Atypical) steps into the role of the well-intentioned but overwhelmed son who is a new father.

What’s the Storyline of Leanne?

After 33 years of marriage, Leanne’s husband leaves her for another woman. Starting over as a grandmother and going through menopause was not what she had envisioned, but with the support of her family. Surrounded by loved ones, including her sister Carol, Leanne learns to navigate the chaos and finds strength, laughter, and hope in the most unexpected places.
