If you’re claustrophobic, beware! In Brick, Netflix’s new science fiction thriller, residents of an ordinary apartment building find themselves trapped by a mysterious black wall. The film is both written and directed by Philip Koch, a master of psychological thrillers known for works like Tribes of Europa and Sixty Minutes, also available on Netflix.
In Brick, Matthias Schweighöfer stars, a face familiar to French audiences from Army of Thieves and Army of the Dead on Netflix, and later seen in the multi-Oscar-winning Oppenheimer. The thriller Brick has been streaming on Netflix since July 10, 2025.
What is the Plot of Brick?
Tim and Olivia live together in a nondescript apartment building. Despite their relationship facing challenges and after yet another argument, Olivia decides to leave Tim. However, as she tries to exit, she discovers a black wall blocking the entrance, trapping her inside. Tim and Olivia quickly realize that the entire building is sealed off with shiny black bricks and communication with the outside world is cut off. The couple joins forces with their neighbors as the building’s residents come together to figure out what has happened and, more importantly, how to escape their brick prison.
