The Sacramento Kings and their general manager, Monte McNair, have decided to part ways after the team’s season concluded with a 120-106 loss to the Dallas Mavericks in the play-in tournament on Wednesday night. This development was reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania.

During his five-year tenure with the Kings, McNair was instrumental in transforming the team into a consistent playoff contender over the last three seasons. After managing only 61 wins in his initial two years at the helm of basketball operations, the Kings achieved a record of 48-34 in the 2022-23 season. This significant improvement not only earned McNair the NBA’s Executive of the Year award but also brought an end to the team’s 16-year playoff drought.

Following McNair’s departure, the Kings are now looking to fill several vacancies in their front office. This announcement comes shortly after assistant GM Wes Wilcox departed from the team to take up the role of general manager at the University of Utah’s men’s basketball program.
