Bronny James, the first-born son of NBA superstar LeBron James, has become the focal point of the 2024 NBA draft since being selected by the Los Angeles Lakers.

Chosen in the second round by the Lakers in June, James inked a four-year contract valued at $7.9 million with the team. While he is expected to spend some time developing in the G League with the South Bay Lakers during his rookie season, he will remain on the main roster throughout the year and will also appear in the upcoming NBA 2K25 video game set for release in September.

The initial evaluation of his capabilities compared to his NBA peers was revealed on Friday when Ronnie Singh, also known as “Ronnie 2K,” unveiled the player ratings for the 2024 draft class in NBA 2K25.

James received a 68 overall rating, making him tied with 16 other players for the lowest rating among the rookies. He trails just two points behind Tennessee guard Dalton Knecht, who holds a 70 overall rating and was the Lakers’ first-round pick at No. 17.

The highest-rated rookies are Atlanta Hawks’ Zaccharie Risacher and Washington Wizards’ big man Alex Sarr, both selected as the top two picks and rated 75 overall. For context, San Antonio Spurs’ star Victor Wembanyama was rated 84 overall in NBA 2K24 at the launch of his rookie season last year.
