He is set to receive an Olympic gold medal for his contribution to Team USA’s victory in the Paris Games. Additionally, he has been honored with the Medal of Commander of the Order of Valor, a significant recognition from his home country, Cameroon, as initially revealed by TMZ Sports.
Embiid was seen on Wednesday accepting this special accolade from Paul Biya, the President of Cameroon. The “Order of Valor” is a prestigious honor bestowed upon Cameroonians who have significantly contributed to various fields such as arts, science, agriculture, commerce, or industry.

In the Olympics, Embiid delivered an outstanding performance during Team USA’s 95-91 semifinal victory over Serbia. He scored 19 points, making 8 out of 11 shots and gathered four rebounds, leading his team to an epic comeback in the fourth quarter.
Born in Yaounde, Cameroon, Embiid relocated to the United States when he was 16. Over the years, he has made significant efforts in giving back to his homeland, including establishing the Arthur Embiid & Angels Foundation, named after his late brother. The foundation aims to better the lives of vulnerable youth in Cameroon.
After winning his first-ever Olympic gold medal, the All-Star center hinted at the possibility of representing Cameroon instead of Team USA in the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
“This experience has been rewarding,” said Embiid. “Despite the challenges of being away from home and family for a few weeks, it was easier thanks to the team. Paris is a beautiful city, and the next one is [Los Angeles]. My participation might not be with Team USA, but possibly with Cameroon.”
