Stemming from the iconic 1980s movies Karate Kid, Cobra Kai has just released its final episode on Netflix.

Three decades after the Karate Kid saga, the renowned rivals Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence have finally made their exit. The series Cobra Kai concluded on February 13, 2025, wrapping up seven years after its debut season premiered on Netflix in 2018.

In this final season, with Cobra Kai ousted from the Valley, its senseis and students must decide whether to participate in the Sekai Taikai – the World Karate Championship – and how they will go about it. These last episodes also mark the return of John Kreese, who has broken out of prison and is plotting his revenge.

The actors from the original film reprised their roles, thirty years after their initial performances. In the interim, Ralph Macchio has led a relatively quiet career, except for his stint on the 12th season of Dancing with the Stars US edition. William Zabka, also quiet post-Karate Kid, ventured into writing and production, earning an Oscar for Best Short Film for co-writing and producing Bobby Garabedian’s film Most (2003).

What is the Plot of Cobra Kai?

Working odd jobs, the solitary Johnny, now in his fifties, has just been fired following a final humiliation by a customer. Divorced, estranged from his son Robbie, and at odds with his father, Johnny is adrift. He decides to reopen the Cobra Kai karate dojo, spurred by his encounter with a promising teenager who has just moved nearby. This reignites his rivalry with Daniel LaRusso, who has become a car dealership owner.
