As the NBA trade deadline approaches within the next 48 hours, the basketball world has been rocked by significant trades. A major headline is the stunning exchange between the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers involving superstars Luka Dončić and Anthony Davis, which many are calling a historic trade for the league.

Another big transaction this Sunday involved a three-way trade. De’Aaron Fox moved to the San Antonio Spurs, while Zach Collins, Kevin Huerter, Tre Jones, and a first-round pick were sent to the Chicago Bulls. The Sacramento Kings welcomed Zach LaVine along with several draft picks.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the trade activities are far from over, especially after the seismic Dončić-Davis transaction. The Golden State Warriors are reportedly in the hunt to secure a superstar of their own following these developments.

“This has really stirred the pot,” Windhorst stated. “Steph [Curry] mentioned recently that only a handful of players can be certain they won’t be traded overnight, and I believed Luka was among them. So, it’s definitely causing some unease across the league right now.”

Windhorst likened the repercussions of the Mavericks-Lakers trade to the realignment seen in college sports, noting how a single change can trigger a domino effect of moves. He believes that similar shifts are likely to occur in the NBA, spurred on by this trade.

“That trade has set off a chain reaction. Just like in college football when a team changes conferences, and suddenly you see Boise State joining the ACC. This could be similar. We might witness a series of substantial moves as a result, because such events have a psychological impact. And I assure you, it’s palpable in the league. … Listen to what Draymond and Steph were saying last night. They’re feeling it too.”

In response, the Warriors have been linked with high-profile names such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Paul George, and Jimmy Butler recently. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Golden State is actively inquiring about various All-Star players.

This flurry of trades underscores that no player is completely secure, with Warriors’ veterans Curry and Green hinting at potential aggressive moves by their team post the Dončić trade.

“You can bet that they will be assertive,” Green commented following a win over the Orlando Magic on Monday. “This organization won’t make reckless decisions, but they will definitely be proactive. And I get that, I respect that.”
