With the NBA trade deadline fast approaching, the LA Clippers are facing increasing pressure after a series of disappointing losses, including a recent defeat to the Toronto Raptors followed by a crushing loss against their city rivals, the LA Lakers, this past Tuesday.

In their latest game, the Clippers were decisively beaten by the Lakers with a final score of 122-97, largely due to LeBron James’ impressive 26-point contribution. The Clippers’ top players, James Harden and Kawhi Leonard, struggled significantly, managing a mere 18 points combined on 6-23 shooting overall and 1-7 from three-point range. Following the game, Leonard offered a candid reflection on the team’s performance, emphasizing a need for personal and collective accountability.

“We have to look ourselves in the mirror first… do our jobs,” Leonard remarked, addressing the media about the ongoing struggles the team faces.

Leonard, who missed the first 34 games of the season due to an injury, has been on a minutes restriction since his return. He explained that his limited playing time has made it challenging for coach Ty Lue to establish effective team rotations, especially affecting the performance during the beginnings of the second quarters.

“The start of that second quarter, it’s been like that since I’ve been back,” Leonard noted, pointing out the need for improvement in the team’s second unit.

The urgency for the Clippers to enhance their game is further underscored by the recent improvements made by their competitors, such as the Lakers, who managed to secure a 25-point victory over the Clippers without their new star player, Luka Doncic. This significant defeat served as a stark reality check for the Clippers, highlighting the critical need for them to elevate their performance levels.
