The Detroit Pistons are set to travel by bus for their upcoming game. They have a game scheduled for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, playing against the Houston Rockets, followed by a road game on Wednesday against the Atlanta Hawks.

Initially, the Pistons planned to spend the night in Houston after Monday’s game and travel to Atlanta on Tuesday. However, due to anticipated bad weather in Texas, the team has decided to travel to Atlanta a day earlier than originally planned.

Complicating matters, Atlanta is currently experiencing a hotel shortage due to the College Football Playoff National Championship game taking place there on Monday night. As a result, the Pistons will instead spend Monday night in Birmingham and then bus to Atlanta on Tuesday, which is approximately a two and a half hour journey.

This change in travel plans was first reported by Craig Ackerman, the play-by-play commentator for the Rockets’ regional sports network, SCHN.

It seems that doing play-by-play commentary and breaking news simultaneously is no small feat. Kudos to Craig for managing both!
