However, it’s actually a social film that delves into Middle Eastern culture and society. Filmed in Lebanon’s Palm Island Nature Reserve, the movie premiered at the Red Sea International Film Festival.
“Beyond the Waves” also marks the directorial debut of Matty Brown. For this project, he collaborated with editor Nacho Ruiz Capillas (“The Others”, “Loving Pablo”) and composers West Dylan Thordson and Kat Vokes (“Split”). What is the Plot of “Beyond the Waves”?
A seemingly ordinary family experiences a magical time on a deserted island. A towering lighthouse over this vast expanse of wild sand is the only hint of human presence. After enjoying precious and secluded moments, the couple and their two children await the boat that will take them back to civilization. However, the boat doesn’t arrive, and they find themselves trapped on an island that turns out to be far less welcoming than it seemed. Are they truly alone? As the couple and their children struggle to survive, a mysterious presence haunts them and unearths dark memories from the past.
