In a fitting tribute, Netflix has scheduled a documentary for December 31, 2024, covering the last concert of Avicii, the Swedish DJ whose brilliant career was tragically brief, following his death in 2018. Born Tim Bergling, he released his debut album in 2013 to immediate commercial success. A follow-up was soon in the works, featuring high-profile collaborations with artists like Chris Martin from Coldplay and David Guetta. However, in 2014, he had to cancel several concerts due to health issues.
He continued to release singles, including a collaboration with Robbie Williams and a cover of a Nina Simone song. By 2016, Avicii decided to permanently end touring and live performances for health reasons. His final live performance took place on August 28 at Ushuaïa in Ibiza, where he promised an upcoming album. This new album began to take shape, highlighted by promising EPs, one of which featured Rita Ora. On April 20, 2018, his representative Diana Baron announced his passing: Avicii was found dead in the afternoon in Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman, where he was vacationing with friends.
