During a game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday night, Toronto Raptors coach Darko Rajaković was expelled from the game following a heated dispute with one of the referees.

Rajaković, who previously served as an assistant coach for the Grizzlies, was visibly frustrated after the referees did not call a foul on the Grizzlies during a play involving Scottie Barnes. Barnes missed the shot, and the Grizzlies subsequently scored, which led Rajaković to angrily confront the court officials. Although it was not immediately apparent what he was shouting, it’s suggested that his words were quite strong. Players Scottie Barnes and Ochai Agbaji had to intervene to restrain their coach.

Below is a video clip of the incident that resulted in Rajaković receiving a double technical foul:

Previously, in January 2024, Rajaković had been fined for vocally criticizing the officials during a post-game press conference, highlighting a history of disputes with game officiating.

The Raptors suffered a significant defeat that evening, losing 155–126 to the Grizzlies. This loss marked their ninth consecutive defeat, bringing their season record to a disappointing 7–24, indicating that the controversial call likely had minimal impact on the game’s outcome.
