As a raptors fan, i really do hope that if Chris Bosh does leave, that he goes to the rockets. This is because in my opinion, the rockets have the right pieces in return for Bosh in a sign and trade. If Chris Bosh goes to the rockets, I would want Bryan Colangelo to package Bosh along with Jose Calderon for Aaron Brooks, Shane Battier, Jordan Hill, 14th pick, Jared Jeffries, and future 2nd round picks. But if Brooks isn't available, I would want substitute Lowry and Ariza for Brooks and Battier.

Assume we get Bosh in a vacuum -- we didn't have to trade anything.

Is Brooks still the best PG for us in what would be our starting lineup? With Bosh, Martin, and Yao all major scoring options, wouldn't Lowry be a better fit for that crew? He'd be in a purely distributive role while continuing to draw fouls.

Brooks would appear to be better for our bench players. He could get Hill, Budinger, etc. going. But can he stomach a demotion? And would we be better off trading him to extract more value since Brooks is overvalued if we use him for a bench PG?

If trading Brooks is necessary to make a deal work, I absolutely agree that we should do it. But even if it's not what they demand ... should we offer Toronto Brooks as part of our package? I'm beginning to think so.

I have no problems giving up AB for Bosh as long as that meant we kept another key player or draft choice. Lowry's increased minutes would mean a big upgrade defensively, and quite frankly AB would shoot less with a team that includes Yao, Bosh, and Martin. If AB shoots less, his value to the team decreases accordingly. BTW, it is very unclear to me that Toronto would be interested in AB. Given their need for toughness, defense, and unselfish leadership, Lowry would be a far better option.

Rahat, what is your opinion on trading AB? Obviously nobody truly knows is Bosh is a clutch player or not. Wouldn't losing Aaron actually detract from the Rocket's success similar to the way Vince Carter is to the Magic. Bosh and Carter are clearly more talented then Turkoglu and Brooks, respectively, but come crunch time, AB was almost as good as it gets. Also, right now he is the face of the franchise, and it would seem just wrong to trade him. What do you think?

if AB is included they need to send back calderon, AB isnt credited enough as being a good PG because the flimsy front line botched countless easy baskets that he creates and feeds at the cup, he should average 3 more APG next year on yao's efficiency in the paint alone. lowry needs to learn how to shoot before he can be crowned a starting PG in the NBA, his outside shot is atrocious and if he didnt have a knack for drawing fouls would be pretty much useless offensively, but does provide a better defensive game than AB. If AB is the focal point of any bosh trade then nobody else from the rotation should be included. that would still be overpaying IMO because it probably wont take that much to sign him.

Obviously, another move would need to be made to address the PG hole. Either that, or Calderon or Jack would be included in the package to Houston.

With better offers potentially coming from LA, Oklahoma, Orlando, Miami, Chicago, Dallas, San Antonio, etc., there could very well be a bidding war for Bosh's services. This is especially true if Stoudamire and Boozer decide to stay put.

It may not take a King's ransom to obtain Bosh's services, but it certainly will take more than spare parts and 1 pick in 2011.

Looking at past S&T transactions does not provide an accurate indicator of what will transpire this summer. The market for free agents, individual team needs, CBA, and hype are all at levels never before experienced by the NBA in the past.

To land Bosh, you're probably looking at any combination of Brooks/Ariza/Battier, plus BOTH Knick picks, plus Houston's 14th pick.
