@  majik19 : (30 March 2016 - 03:00 AM) solid comeback
@  slick shoes : (30 March 2016 - 02:45 AM) If Bill was broadcasting the game, I believe he would classify Ariza's three as "cold blooded". Just a hunch.
@  thejohnnygold : (26 March 2016 - 05:15 PM) Almost all modern sports media outlets must pander to the masses, and people enjoy vilifying Harden. It would bother me if they were wrong, but they aren't.
@  majik19 : (26 March 2016 - 05:08 PM) fitting that Harden gets a triple-double, yet no credit in the news. Westbrook, Lebron, Curry, or even Antekoumpo get a triple-double, it's headline news. Harden only gets headlines for bad defense and selfishness this year.
@  slick shoes : (24 March 2016 - 02:54 AM) we don't deserve a playoff spot. this is an awful basketball team.
@  majik19 : (24 March 2016 - 02:43 AM) major loss for playoffs...
@  majik19 : (23 March 2016 - 02:44 AM) fitting that they lost on a dumb turnover.
@  thenit : (20 March 2016 - 02:40 PM) Its time someone in the team got into Harden's face. I don't even care what the reason was or if Jet was at fault, just good that someone is willing to do it
@  slick shoes : (20 March 2016 - 12:04 AM) did anyone just see James and JET get in to it? they had to be separated by Brewer.
@  thenit : (17 March 2016 - 09:25 PM) I don't know, Feigen tweeted that they had another meeting, and that Dmo said that we had 6 or 6 of those according to feigen. Basically said its no time to talk because nothing changes and walk the walk
@  slick shoes : (17 March 2016 - 09:19 PM) Who is calling these meetings? Does anyone even show up at this point?
@  thenit : (17 March 2016 - 08:48 PM) Its laughable, they had another players only meeting. I think its like the 10th one. Still no change. Its so stupid, like Dmo said whats the point of talking if we don't play hard.
@  slick shoes : (17 March 2016 - 02:54 AM) are you surprised? this is the same team that we've seen all season. so much talk from the locker room about improvement and change. the grizz win was a fluke.
@  Cooper : (17 March 2016 - 02:52 AM) on pace to give up 144 at half, pathetic effort.
@  RocketMan : (15 March 2016 - 11:34 PM) Per the references, yes.
@  slick shoes : (15 March 2016 - 12:51 PM) Is Terrence Jones even on the team any more?
@  majik19 : (12 March 2016 - 06:15 AM) didn't watch the whole game, but we actually looked solid on both ends. the defense was rotating appropriately. i can hardly believe it.
@  DenverRocket : (11 March 2016 - 08:51 PM) Great interview with DM: http://espn.go.com/e...lay?id=14951528
@  majik19 : (10 March 2016 - 02:20 AM) pathetic how close this game is...
@  thejohnnygold : (06 March 2016 - 12:48 AM) Those are some sweet socks. Have fun!

New post: The Dwight Howard-Houston Rockets divorce looks inevitable
    By: Rahat Huq

    Quote:

“I feel like that’s a very successful way of playing. I know (the Rockets) have their opinions or whatever. (But) for the rest of the season, I’m going to make it an effort just to do what they need me to do offensively and defensively, and not focus on what happened back in Orlando (and) what happened in LA (with the Lakers) and just put my mind to finishing this season on a real high note.”

In reading Howard's interview with Sam Amick of USA Today, one almost gets a sense that Howard is at peace with a decision he's already made.  He seems to have moved on, resigned to the fact that the Rockets won't feature the low post ability he believes he possesses.  Howard has been classy, mature, and undeserving of the slander he'll inevitably endure this summer.  But in his citing O'neal and Abdul-Jabbar as peers, one gets a glimpse at the dissonance between reality and Howard's self-perception.

Numbers aside, the Rockets have been almost unwatchable of late with Howard on the court; the Rockets are only watchable with Howard on the bench and not plodding around in the lanes James Harden likes to use.  And he may not be good enough anymore at protecting the rim to offset his drastic decline out on the perimeter.  The latter trait these days may be just as important as the former.  I first noted the slippage against the Trail Blazers in 2014, when Howard would labor recovering back to a rolling LaMarcus Aldridge.  Now it seems the big man has difficulty bending down altogether.

That's not to say Dwight Howard is useless or can no longer help this team.  But it's tough to see this team committing the type of resources Howard would demand to secure him long term.  I was on the fence initially, but its become clear its time for both sides to go in a different direction.  That the Rockets didn't move Howard at the deadline is not revealing of a desire to keep him beyond this season - they likely felt they were better off with him than without him when not yet being able to make use of the cap space his departure would clear.

Clint Capela might be a step back.  (He certainly wasn't last night against Indiana in posting a +12 to Howard's -14).  But its become clear that its just not enough of a drop-off to warrant keeping Howard at a significant percentage of the team's payroll.

Dwight has been a great player for a long time. He is awesome to the city of Houston. What the Warriors have done last year by use of the 3 point line and pushing tempo has changed the dynamics of the game as we once knew it. If the NBA can change the rules and remove zone defenses, then maybe things can return to the way they were. The guys who can post up with a good ppp are guys who can shoot an 8 to 10 footer. Guys like Anthony Davis, LMA, Duncan, Durant, ect. Karl Anthony Towns will be a force to contend with soon.

Earlier in the year Okafor was shooting about 0.86 ppp in postups while averaging 17 points a game. I saw his PiTP (points in the paint/ per game) at that time were 12 points per game....meaning 12 of his 17 points per game were in the post while the others were FT's or jump shots or rebound put-backs or fast breaks. This was before Ish Smith joined the team. It's my opinion that teams didn't double Okafor back then since the 76ers were not a threat to actually winning. "If" threatened by the 76ers consistently.....Okafor would face tougher defenses or exotic defensive schemes. PiTP would be tougher. So I don't want people thinking I troll Howard personally. It's more the position of Center. Capela doesn't shoot well, but doesn't demand the ball either.

An article I read today [SpaceCityScoop.com by J.A. Medders, "Houston Rockets Are Better Off Without Dwight Howard."]
posses some interesting stats. Again, any article on the internet needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Open to a persons personal feelings and interpretation.

Couldn't Howard screw all this up by opting in? I don't suspect he will... he'd probably feel more comfortable with long term security... but all of these articles are being written like the Rockets are in control. They're not - Howard is. He gets to choose whether he comes back or not.

That being said, it's certainly time to move on from Howard. I do have one caveat - playoff Dwight has been consistently head-and-shoulders above regular season Dwight. We saw it against the Trailblazers, and we saw it against the Mavericks and Clippers. Maybe it will resurface again? (Or maybe he'll be downright unplayable against the Warriors because of cross-matching...)

At least he has taken it gracefully... not that the media has noticed.

You are right on all counts.  I will be very surprised if he stays as it appears he is pretty dissatisfied with his place here.  Boston will certainly talk to him in the off season.  Portland, Miami, Dallas, and Atlanta (if Horford goes) should all have interest.  Charlotte may kick the tires as well.

Jefferson's old man game is done with. He would be a nice replacement, but does not overall better the franchise IMO.

when you win two games in a row that's called a winning streak.

trickin' six digits on kicks and still holdin'.

Wait...are you talking about us picking up Jefferson or Charlotte picking up Dwight?  I'm assuming you're talking Dwight to Charlotte.  I actually like the move for them.

I am talking about Charlotte grabbing Dwight. It would be the same as his move to Houston. Nice core there, he adds some post presence/rim defending, but doesn't make them championship caliber.
