Injury, maybe? Although I haven't seen anything from Feigen about it. I'm not sure there's room for him on the roster the way things are going - in terms of wings he's at best 5th in the rotation, I think (Harden, Ariza, Garcia, whichever of Papanikalaou/Daniels you prefer).
Alternatively, it might be that McHale plans to showcase him in one of the later games. I remember last year he tried to stagger things when he had competition for a position so that one game one player would get big minutes, the next game someone else. The Beverley/Lin battle and Jones/Motiejunas were decided that way, IIRC.

EDIT: Forgot about Terry and Johnson too...man, the wing is crowded this year! Of the players we have there I think the Rockets have spent the least on Covington and he has not really proven that he is ready to carve out a position in the rotation. Seems likely that he's one of the ones to go (unless he wants to go back down to the D-League for another year, if he's happy to do that I'm sure the Rockets would love to keep him around in the RGV.

@Buckko
I agree. looks like the odds are stacked against him
you can only warn a man that the bridge is out.....if he keeps driving he's on his own

I'm disappointed though. He had great potential, but could never translate it to the nba court.

No Asik means both Dorsey and Adrien make the final roster cut as necessary depth on the frontline.
Why?
In my opinion, simply because both are much more physical than Covington.
