News this morning was that we signed Dexter Pittman to a 10-day and released Greg Smith. We get another wide bodied, apparently healthy guy to help out in the post while releasing one who hasn't played for most of the season. I see this as a lateral move, talent-wise. Judging from his playing record, he really hasn't had a chance to show much. Averaging 7 rebounds and 11 points with the Toros this season in 20 MPG. I think this is a wise move by Morey as we don't yet know if Dwight will last the postseason, Asik can't go it alone, and D-Mo is NOT a center. If he is able for a few minutes per game to cause some physical disruption in the post on defense when Asik sits, then that's about all we can ask for. I have a feeling his D will be better than Smith's which will pair well next to the offensively talented D-mo, off the bench. Possibly a nice little upgrade, but definitely not a downgrade, IMO.... Thoughts?
