Getting rid of Lin's contract next year is a plus to itself. The Rockets have $72M committed for next season, and that is before Parsons raise.Lowry is due for a new contract. He may be on the East All-Star team this year. He's going to have to get paid. The Rockets can't afford to give both Lowry and Parsons new contracts after this season.
I'd be VERY surprised if Lin is traded for Lowry.

That is not counting the cap though. That's the actual dollars, because of Lin and Asik poison pill.

I'd bet minimum $32 million, 4 years. And wouldn't be at all surprised if Lowry ends up with even something better than that.
I have a feeling both Asik and Lin will probably play out their contracts with the Rockets. The $15 million salary next season is just too much to overcome, although their contracts only count $8.3 million to the cap.
The good thing is the Rockets will have a lot of flexibility after the 2014-15 season when both Asik and Lin have played out their contracts. In the meantime, Lin is obviously contributing well to the Rockets effort this season and has been a positive influence in the locker room. Asik on the other hand................
I agree, the only teams that would be able to swallow the amount are championship caliber teams in a big market. I just don't see NYK, LAL or Brooklyn spending that kind of money while they aren't really in contention. Also we would have to take a bad contract or low picks.
Asik is injured so I will hold judgement until he comes back. Lin is valuable he can contribute off the bench and unless we get a PG back in the trade that is decent, I rather hold onto the contract and wait until next years trade deadline for teams to chase the expiring contract or letting it ride to the end ourselves.
