@  2016Champions : (14 December 2013 - 05:51 AM) Marreese Speights has 8 offensive rebounds in 15 minutes tonight. He has scored 12 in the 4th and there's still 5:30 left.
@  2016Champions : (14 December 2013 - 05:19 AM) Harden's dunking form looks like Lebron's
@  2016Champions : (14 December 2013 - 05:14 AM) Just noticed that the shot Dwight pulled out of a sky (that should have been a goaltend) wasn't recorded as a block
@  feelingsuper... : (14 December 2013 - 05:12 AM) Jones green, he's still just a baby. Next year he will be a bonafide starter.
@  2016Champions : (14 December 2013 - 05:09 AM) Why is Jones scared to shoot? If he's that wide open he needs to take that
@  2016Champions : (14 December 2013 - 05:08 AM) Asik is a better passer out of pick and rolls than Dwight is.
@  2016Champions : (14 December 2013 - 04:34 AM) Beverley's defense has more energy than it does impact

Hello everyone!  I'm happy to announce that this month's topic is entirely positive and nobody is on our "naughty" list.

Most of you have probably noticed that 2016champions made the front page (what is this?  Reddit?) in Rahat's post about Thaddeus Young.  BBoley also made a recent appearance (getting married and making the front page in one month...it's all downhill from here :P ).  It has been decided that more of this is a good thing.  The exact words went like this:

"I'd like to make a practice of highlighting [great posts] on the blog.  I think that will not only encourage quality posts but also encourage better discussion by presenting both sides to an argument."

-Rahat Huq

What does this mean for you?  It means an opportunity to become "internet famous".  Brag to your friends about how one of ESPN's affiliates quoted you on their website.  Incite envy amongst your peers and make them aware of the greatness that stands before them.  Be validated in knowing that what you think is worth repeating.  E-mail your relatives.  Frame printed copies on the wall.  Take a selfie in front of your monitor.  Relish the moment.

But thejohnnygold, how can I, a simple Rockets fan, ever achieve such great heights?

I'm glad you asked.  Should this level of glory interest you then you must do one thing and one thing only: make a quality post.

What makes one post better than another?

Another fine question!  I think most of us already know so I will be brief.  Address the issue at question.  Make well thought out points.  Use spelling, grammar, and diction.  Support your stance with whatever data, stats, quotes, or other relevant material you can find or feel enhances the post.  Don't worry about the length of the post.  Pithy is good and so is a page long essay that delves into every integral detail.  We all come here to read so give us something to chew on!  Charts and graphs are popular.  So is video.  A blend of valid opinion supported with visual/statistical data seems to go over best.

Don't stress about it.  Wait until you've got some time and ambition.  Internet glory awaits, my friends.

I think Rusk has a bed for you my friend. It's ok to talk to yourself, but the answering of your own questions has me worried.

Great idea, I think this part is the one I most agreed with: "Be validated in knowing that what you think is worth repeating."

The title of this thread surprised me, it's also the title of a book I finished reading about 2 weeks ago, I highly recommend it to everyone here. I've been exercising the advice from the book in my everyday life, even in this forum, and I find that it really does work.

Absolutely! I enjoy your writing JG. I might not always agree with you but I can typically see your reasoning. Keep up the good work.

I've been lurking for a long time and have already learned a ton because of the high standards of this forum. While I have little to contribute at this time, please be aware that they are probably others like myself. Those that want to learn and are listening. I further appreciate that the moderators and owner value their forum member's contributions and cite them.

Please keep up the good work!

Side Note: Thanks to JG's title reference, 2016's recommendation, and a particularly rough week at work... I bought the book!

Be gentle. I am here to learn.

I read the book about a year ago as well.  Highly recommended.
